Great People, Great Dogs

A few weeks before my birthday, my wife asked me how I would like to celebrate it. We could have a big party at home, or we could travel to South Dakota to hang around with great people and great dogs. I chose the latter. Because I am a dog nut.

So we travelled to Sioux Falls and attended the NAHVDA test hosted by the Midwest Tristate NAVHDA chapter.

We chatted with club members, dog handlers and judges, photographed some dogs in action and relaxed under the warm South Dakota sun.

We followed along as our friend Jenny ran her LH Weimaraner PM‘s Kamikaze Cami Von Martinsen in the UT test.

Cami ran, pointed and fetched like a champ, even though she was in full blown heat.

And we followed along as our friend Tate ran Martinsen’s Master 8 Hawke in the Natural Ability Test.

And crossed our fingers for all the dogs and handlers at each event.

Folks of all ages were in the gallery, cheering the dogs on.

The grounds were awesome, everything was within walking distance. After lunch, the judges agreed to test the strength of Ruff Tough Kennels. The results are in: Ruff Tough Kennels are TOUGH.

Best of all, there were PUPPIES!

And plenty of sunshine.

After the test, we ran dogs in nearby fields to get some photos. LH Weim Ragnar Zeiss Vom Fenriswolf had a great run with VC Martinsen‘s Lil Popper “Ginger”.

Aggie just poured on the charm!

And young Mya and Martinsen’s Renegade Rebel were happy to pose like super stars!

So clearly my decision to spend my birthday in South Dakota paid off. I saw some great dogs and met some great people. But most of the time I just surrounded myself with pretty girls.

Not bad for a dog nut!
